“In the past St. Elizabeth’s has striven to meet the changing times, and the new church must have the same willingness to adapt itself” Church Army Captain Peter Taylor in 1967

...and how we continue to adapt...

In 2005, a re-order was undertaken, whereby the pews were removed and replaced by comfortable chairs, the fittings and furnishings were renewed and the P.A. system updated and re-located. Additionally, a carpeted area in the back corner was tailor made for young children with ‘toy bags’ and story books. There is now much scope for informal and creative styles of worship and the opportunities to open the Church to a variety of different events.

In 2007 on the weekend of 20-22nd April, St. Elizabeth’s celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Dedication of the new Church. Once again there was an (updated) exhibition in the Church, a selection of social and entertaining events and a very well attended service of Thanksgiving on the Sunday morning with the (retired) Bishop of Manchester, Christopher Mayfield. Many friends, old and new celebrated together, along with 1 young person who was baptised and 8 young people who were also admitted to Communion. This was completed by a shared lunch in the Church Hall.
