...and where it went from there...

In 1967 on Saturday 22nd April the dedication of the new Church by the Bishop of Manchester took place. St. Elizabeth’s was ‘promoted’ from “Mission Church” to “Daughter Church” of Holy Trinity

By 1984 Team Ministry was a reality and St. Elizabeth’s became the District Church of St Elizabeth in the Parish of Holy Trinity in the United Benefice of Horwich (including St. Catherine’s) with the First team Vicar (as opposed to a Curate).

In 1987, the first Confirmation service was held at St Elizabeth for 36 candidates from across all three churches. The old 1900 Mission building had finally become unusable as a hall and church groups had been using alternative accommodation such as the Brazely Day Centre, Chorley New Road School and even the Greenwood Hotel.

In 1988 the 21st anniversary of the Dedication of the new Church was celebrated with a variety of events, an exhibition in Church and a Service of Thanksgiving at the end of the year. By 1989 a new Church Hall had been built and opened.

In 1994 St Elizabeth’s was made a Parish in her own right within the United Benefice of Horwich and Rivington. (Rivington Parish was also added to the Team at the same time).

The disabled facilities were also improved with a nominated parking space, ramp entrance and improved toilet.
